Free Entry and Free Parking

Admission is free but as The Monastery operates as a Charitable Trust, donations to help support the preservation of this important Victorian building and our outreach programme are very welcome.

Public Opening Times

We are usually open Sunday to Friday, 11am to 4pm, excluding Bank Holidays. The building is very occasionally partly or wholly closed because of scheduled events. Please see the bottom of this page or call (0161) 223 3211 for information on upcoming closure dates.

Facilities and Access

Visitor facilities include a permanent exhibition in the cloisters, a film room, a traditional gift shop, the St Francis Healing Garden and a tea room - The Victorian Pantry.

The Monastery is fully accessible for wheelchairs and buggies, with lifts available to all floors. There are accessible toilets available on each floor and baby changing facilities available on the ground floor.

How to Find Us

The Monastery is less than a fifteen-minute drive from Manchester City Centre and a free, secure car park is available on-site. The Monastery is also accessible by train or bus from Manchester Piccadilly Station. For more information on how to get to the Monastery, please visit our Directions page.

Upcoming Closure Dates

The NAVE will be CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC after 2pm on Tuesday 3rd July; until 12pm on Monday 16th July; all day Monday 23rd July (except for Taste of The Monastery tour bookings); all day Tuesday 24th July and from 2pm on Friday 27th July . On these dates, the Heritage Corner will remain open as usual 11am until 4pm.

The BUILDING will be CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC on Sunday 8th July, except for ticket holders due, to the Gorton Philharmonic Concert.
