Free Entry and Free Parking

Admission is free but as The Monastery operates as a Charitable Trust, donations to help support the preservation of this important Victorian building and our education and outreach programme are very welcome.

Public Opening Times

From December to February, we will just be open on Sundays. Please look at our Events Diary for special events taking place outside of our opening times.

Pantry opening hours differ: Pantry open Sunday-Friday until Sunday December 23rd (Pantry closed on Sunday December 9th due to Christmas concerts).

Our traditional Gift Shop will be open on our Sunday Open Days and on Monday 10th and Tuesday 18th December.

Facilities and Access

Visitor facilities include a permanent exhibition in the cloisters, a film room, a traditional gift shop, the St Francis Healing Garden and a tea room - The Victorian Pantry.

The Monastery is fully accessible for wheelchairs and buggies. There are accessible toilets available throughout the building and baby changing facilities available on the ground floor.

How to Find Us

The Monastery is less than a fifteen-minute drive from Manchester City Centre and a free, secure car park is available on-site. - Sunday 2nd Dec, Health & Wellbeing Day, small entry charge applies
- Sunday 9th Dec: Gorton Philharmonic Orchestra and Christmas Carols (ticketed, 2pm) and Royal British Legion Christmas Concert (ticketed, 7pm), ticket holders only). No Open Day due to concerts.
- Sunday 16th Dec: Open Day, 11am-4pm. (A Christmas Story (FREE, 2pm) and Christmas with Lucinda (ticketed, 6-8pm)
- Sunday 23rd Dec: Open Day, 11am-4pm, (Festive Afternoon Tea in the Great Nave, 12pm and 2.30pm, £19.95pp, must pre-book)
- Sunday 30th Dec: Open Day, 11am-4pm, (limited offer in Victorian Pantry)
