Event Details

Gorton residents are warmly invited to join us at 5.30pm on Thursday, November 17th for a wonderful evening of live music from Manchester camerata and friends.

We love our home of Gorton and are proud to be based here. The People Make The Place is a celebration of our local community, the places we work and the people we create music with.

Performing alongside our professional Manchester Camerata musicians will be the HideOut Youth Zone choir, Old Hall Drive Academy pupils, St Peter’s RC High School students and participants of our dementia Music Café, all of whom have written the lyrics and music to their very own songs. They’ll be joined by Gorton Voice choir and other local music groups to perform their songs at this special concert, in front of an audience of friends and family.

The concert will be held in our home, The Great Nave of The Monastery, Gorton, and will also include the world premiere of a new piece by Royal Philharmonic Society composer, Alex Ho, inspired by his recent visit to Gorton.

The People Make The Place has been made possible with generous support from The Holroyd Foundation, Hoppy Trust, The Radcliffe Trust, Zochonis Charitable Trust, The D’Oyly Carte Charitable Trust, The Granada Foundation and The Pilot Group.

Tickets to this show are available for free, with the option to add a donation to Manchester Camerata. All donations will go to support Manchester Camerata’s work.
