We’re very happy to announce that the Men’s Shed at the Monastery is now open from 11am-2pm every Tuesday, and everyone is invited!
What can I expect at the Men’s Shed?
The first Men’s Shed (by that name) was opened in Tongala, Victoria, Australia on 26th July 1998. It is now an international movement with Sheds popping up everywhere.
You can expect all the kinds of things that would traditionally take place in a garden shed; woodworking, gardening, learning new skills, making friends and most importantly drinking tea (or coffee).
How will I benefit?
Men’s Sheds tackle social isolation and provide a safe and friendly environment to get together with others, learn new skills and make things or repair things brought into the Shed by members of the community. We will often help local projects by making things that are needed such as planters for a gardening project or benches for local parks. It’s not all woodwork though and our Men’s Shed is directed by its members.
Who can take part?
Anyone over the age of 18 can attend and all genders are welcome
Do I need any special clothing or equipment?
No materials required as the Shed will provide everything needed. Wear comfortable clothing and sensible shoes.
When is the Men’s Shed open?
We’re open 11am – 2pm every Tuesday.
How much does it cost to join?
It’s free to attend but donations are always welcome
