Event Details

You’re warmly invited to join us at the Sanctuary, on Monday, 19th September for this brand new, 8-week MBSR course* that teaches you how to lower your stress and anxiety levels.

What is mindful based stress reduction (MBSR)?

MBSR is the gold standard course for those embarking on the Mindfulness path.

How will this course help me to lower stress & anxiety levels?

You’ll learn how to come out of auto-pilot, to stop living in your head and come back into the body. This in turn allows you to use your own inner resources to develop more resilience, better coping strategies, and to add an element of calm into your life.

How will I benefit?

The physiological benefits are many and varied, including: lower blood pressure, improved sleep, reduction of chronic pain and inflammation, to name just a few. On a psychological level, feeling calmer can lead to fewer cravings for unhealthy foods and habits, more empathy in our interactions, and a higher level of tolerance towards the self and others.

What can I expect?

The course involves meditative practice, both static and in movement, a continuous study of the theory and practicalities behind the practice, as well as an overview of the scientific evidence which supports it. There will also be assignments set to be done outside class, in the form of home practice, and keeping a written record of their experiences. Audio and video recordings will be provided for home practice, as well as templates for logging practice.

Do I need any special clothing or equipment for this course?

Just a notebook and some comfortable clothes.

How much does it cost?

This is course normally costs £200: here at the Monastery it is offered for free, with the heartfelt desire to equip those who need it with the ability to deal with the challenges we have all faced in the recent past, and will face in our imminent future. Your investment is your time and commitment to practice.
