Wisdom cards

Event Details

Join Fay Barratt (Artist, Interfaith Minister and Author) for the launch of unique and ground-breaking wisdom cards and her book on Mary Magdalene and the Women Disciples, PLUS an exhibition of original paintings.

Fay will unveil these hidden women and take you on a personal journey of discovery in the exquisite setting of Manchester’s Modern-Day Monastery.

About the ‘wisdom cards’ and book

These cards and book are the culmination of a creative spiritual journey of many years, uncovering and beginning to know these human and truly holy women. The 27 large cards are beautiful reproductions are from Fay’s paintings; each is an energetic transmission of deep wisdom. Their purpose is to bring love, healing and spiritual connection to all who see them.

Mary Magdalene was not a lone woman tagging along with the male disciples of Jesus. She was a leading disciple, one of the many women disciples and followers; some of whom went on to teach, inspire and lead early communities.

The book contains quotations, questions, information and inspiration on each of the women and a suggested practice. Practices include journaling, art work, poetry, meditation, prayer, song and dance. They are invitations to move into a deeper connection with the universal mystery of life.

This is a real treasury of Fay’s artwork, a distillation of her warm spiritual generosity and her much-needed focus on those women disciples who have been all too often ignored and forgotten. Part of the real treasure for me lies in the enormous value of the recommended practices in the accompanying booklet, which are simple and powerful tools for transformation, both for individual and group work.” – David Curtis translator of The Gospel of Mary.

What can I expect at the launch?

Fay will share her journey of unveiling these extraordinary hidden women through her paintings and spiritual journey and offer readings from her new book. Through interactive workshopping, Fay will bring alive practices contained in the book and you’ll have the opportunity to experience her new Wisdom Cards for yourself.

The wisdom is universal and not limited to any gender, religion or group.

“Not only will you find a treasury of information about Mary Magdalene and the Myrrh Bearers here, but the banquet of suggestions for creative practice, visualisation and embodied prayer may immeasurably deepen and perhaps even transform your inner life. This is an exquisite and compassionate devotional resource to inspire, comfort and sustain you on your own healing journey as you reclaim and restore the memory of Mary Magdalene and the women disciples.” – Kayleen Asbo
