Join Gill Harbach for this fascinating workshop about the real St Francis, shining a light on the path he so clearly demonstrated towards the Divine.

About this event

St Francis, patron saint of the Monastery was a man who has been much misunderstood.

He never wanted to be famous, he didn’t want to start a Catholic order and unbeknownst to many he shared a deep love for a woman, who later became St Clare of Assisi. His story allows us to understand that we all have a divine calling, it may not initially be what we think it will be but once we open up to our inner relationship with God our life path can become clear & easier to follow.

Francis was a mystic, empathic to the challenges of the worldly existence and his story is one of compassion for his fellow men and women and of course animals. He brought together in a respectful way Christianity and Islam at a time of war and great animosity between the religions and through his mystical outlook he paved the way throughout history, through the Franciscan outlook, to understand the reality of the world.

You will find throughout history Franciscans making an impression on the world as map makers, artists, scientists, composers, mathematicians, astrologers and architects to name just a few.

How did St Francis become famous?

By demonstrating to people, through his own mystical abilities, that to access the inner journey to God could open up an exciting & enlightening experience giving people freedom, personal power and choice in a world which very often restricts the personal path to the Divine.

This workshop will tell Francis’s story in a way that is relevant for today, allowing us to realise our own potential by following in the mystical path to God.
