We are looking for an experienced Head Chef to cast a spell on us with their passion for food that’s cooked with love, and served with soul.
She or he will take control of all aspects of the kitchen, ensuring that the highest standards are maintained at all times in keeping with our position as an award-winning Heritage Venue, a Jewel in Manchester’s Crown.
Overall responsibility for food provision for conference and banqueting for up to 450 guests in the Great Nave, plus delegates in the historic friary, VIP dining in the Private Chapel and the two on-site café’s one of which is yet to open in our brand new £3million ‘Welcome Wing’.
From being listed as one of the world’s 100 most endangered sites alongside the Taj Mahal, to becoming a record breaking award-winning venue is only a small part of our story. Are you a Head Chef that is imaginative, creative and keen to make a lasting difference at The Monastery with high quality, high volume banqueting food? You will combine this with the vision, ability and skill to set the agenda for our brand new Café and create outstanding menus for conferences, dinners and VIP dining, ensuring our food is created with nothing less than inspiration.
The ideal candidate must have experience of high-end, high-volume banqueting, including an in-depth knowledge of working with the finest ingredients be they locally or organically grown.
You will be the chief advocate of professional standards for the team at The Monastery and will ensure that strict UK hygiene regulations are complied with and improved. You will also ensure we maximise resources.
You will be responsible for ensuring the achievement of optimum profit and maintaining control of the department.
You must be highly motivated, have exceptional attention to detail and aim for service perfection at all times.
We are looking for an individual who thrives on being the best they can be, whilst paying attention to every aspect of our food and beverage offer.
You need to be used to working under pressure remaining unflappable and well organised.

Ability to manage a busy kitchen operation
