Poynton Youth Brass Band Concert

The Poynton Youth Brass Band is a group of talented young musicians, who form one of the top youth bands in the country. Over the past 30 years they have competed in many national contests and received numerous awards for their excellent playing and musicianship.

A number of ex-players have gone on to play in some of the best adult brass bands, such as the Fairey Band, whilst others have pursued professional careers in music. One former player is now the Principal Trombonist with the Halle Orchestra.

Under the expert musical direction of Andy Hurst, a former Grimethorpe Colliery Band player who appeared in the film "Brassed Off", the 45-strong band will perform a varied and entertaining programme of music during their afternoon concert in the wonderful surroundings of the monastery.

The main youth band will be ably supported by the Poynton Junior Brass Band, whose current members will become the Youth Band players of the future.

Tickets are priced at £5 for adults and £4 for children and concessions. They will be on sale at the monastery or through the ticket office (see below) , and at the Friday night rehearsals for friends and relations of band members. Tickets can also be reserved for collection on the day via the "Contact Us" link on the band website www.pybb.org.uk.
